About Me:

Howdy! I'm James Dungan currently a senior at Allen High school, during my time at Allen High School I've persude the Computer Science Endorsment, Meaning I've taken a computer science course every year of my high school career, including two CS Courses my senior year being Discrete Mathematics, and Computer Science-III the most advanced class in the Computer Science track.

My Passions

Since I was a kid I have been passionate about Engineering or more specifically Creation, My passion began with building Lego throughout my younger youth. This Lego transitioned into building popsicle stick & Hot glue inventions in middle school that I would stay up all night making. Like most boys I was obsessed with medival warfare and used to build trebuchet and ballista out of the popsicle sticks. Trebuchets that lauched marbles and Ballista that shot pencils.

This passion for creation carried on into High school when I took my first engineering course, as well as my first computer science course. Whilst this was in the middle of lockdown I wasn't dettered and continued my passion for learning, building bridges and discovering Python.

Through the majority of High School I did a Dual endorsment between Robotics and Computer Science, I ultimatly decided that I was more passionate about Computer Science. My Computer Science journey has not been easy, but I've learned alot exploring many facets of Computer Science including Cyber Security

Hobbies

Throughout my time in High school I had to find some ways to relax and I found this through my many hobbies, we've already covered some of my creations such as my lego addiction, but going into high school as a huge medival nerd (I practicaly grew up on the Stronghold games) I wanted to try my hand at armor making, and after my first piece it became an obsession, through the next three years I have been making pieces from chainmail coifs to full mail breastplates. I also love Modding games particularly Mount and Blade Bannerlord 2 where I was lucky enough to be an alpha tester for playing the game for over 4 years, I've been dipping my toe into making my own mods for the past year and a half which has been quite the interesting journey, making me think about games in a whle different way.

My chainmail coif an shirt I made!

Cyber Security

Cyber Security, has been my fascination for the past 2 years. My introduction into the Cyber Security World was through Cyber Patriot the Air Forces National Cyber Security Competition. I have competed the past two years and Progressed as High as the National Semi-Final Round in the Platinum Division as a Windows Server Specialist. This sparked my love for Cyber Security which culminated into me running for the presidency of my Schools Cyber Security Club. I ended up winning the election with 97% of the vote starting my leadership in the Cyber Security World. This fascination would lead me to the ALlen Cyber Invitational, my major Computer Science Project my senior year. This project is a multi-school Cyber Security Competition for high schoolers where they can ear the basic an intermediate skills of the Cybsec world in a competition setting completley free to them.

Moving Forward

Moving forward I'm attending The University of Texas at Dallas Majoring in Computer Science. I'm aiming to obtain a summer internship over my senior year to start my college experience with some industry experience that can lead to more knowledge in the computer science field. My passion for learning hasn't changed and although I might not be building lego's anymore I hope to one day put together something that changes the world.
